What My Step Dad Taught Me About Money

My clients often tell me that their parents didn't teach them anything about money.
They mean that their parents didn't teach them and formally explain complex topics about finances. But whether you realize it or not, your parents taught you a lot about money.

For example, my stepdad is a good guy. But he is what we like to refer to as "cheap."

And that taught me the value of saving money early on. Then, when I was a teenager, I started working and needed a car.

He helped me buy a car, put it on his line of credit, and arranged that I make regular payment amounts on it. But here's the thing: He insisted I payoff more when I could afford to. These actions resulted in me paying off the whole car in five months. I quickly learned the value of paying off debt fast and not having it hanging over my head.

There are countless times when I have had conversations with clients about debt and how it has hurt them. That's one of the reasons why I've made it a mission to help people with their finances.

Not just to get their financial house in order, but to plan for the future.
Because like anything in life, sometimes we need a bit of help putting the pieces together.

For example, I was a competitive swimmer when I was younger and having a coach helped me excel much further than I would have on my own.

And now, every year, I upgrade my skills by taking courses offered by some of the most revered professionals in the financial industry. This action allows me to bring my A-game to my clients.

Having support and constantly learning makes a difference. It's all so simple.
But people still hesitate to work with a financial advisor because they don't know what to expect.

If that sounds like you, I encourage you to schedule a quick fifteen-minute call with me here: (Book a call).
